FAQs

What is a Giclée print?

Giclée art printing is considered the gold standard for producing museum-level quality prints. It is a term used to describe fine art printing using pigment-based, archival quality inks. Traditional print technologies utilize a 4-color combination (CMYK) whereas Giclée printers take advantage of up to 12 individual colors. This translates into more exact reproduction, smoother gradient transitions, stunning depth, vivid richness, and sharp detail.

Why is it important to use archival inks to make fine art prints?

Archival inks are designed to resist fading and weathering to ensure longevity. This means that despite years of use and exposure to light, your print will remain in excellent condition.

What products are used for painting on clothing/accessories?

For fabric items, I use Amsterdam acrylic paint mixed with GAC 900 Golden heat-set fabric painting medium.

For leather items, I first prepare the products with Angelus Leather Preparer & Deglazer and then use Angelus Direct Acrylic Leather Paints for the designs. The items are sealed with Angelus Direct No. 600 Acrylic Finisher and for some products like sneakers, I also use Pro-Tex Water & Stain Repellent spray for further protection.

What items can I send in for customization?

Almost anything (t-shirts, jeans, sweatshirts, sneakers, Apple Watch bands, etc)! All clothing items should be washed and dried before being sent (if not, the paint has a greater likelihood of cracking due to the shrinking that might occur). Sneakers do not have to be new, but they must be cleaned before being sent.

Can I wash my design?

The materials used (see above) help to ensure longevity and prevent against fading, cracking, and/or peeling. However, to best preserve your design, please refer to the special care instructions located underneath each product description on the “Shop” page.

How are items priced?

You may notice that some similar products are priced differently. This is because the sale price of each item takes into consideration the original cost of the product, the complexity level of the design, the time needed to complete the design, and the amount/price of supplies used.
